Arthur Woods (B'10), co-founder of leading impact design firm Imperative, shares tales from Google, social enterprise start-up world on discovering and activating purpose in your career. Speaking both to people new to the job search and those wanting to chart a new course mid-career, Arthur will leverage Imperative's emerging work inside of companies such as Etsy and Twitter as well as the development of the first diagnostic platform for measuring purpose.

Before co-founding Imperative Arthur led operations for YouTube EDU at Google where he developed the first scalable quality review process for the onboarding of new educational content on YouTube, then oversaw operations of YouTube for Schools. He later managed the development of YouTube’s first guide for education and co-organized YouTube’s inaugural Education Summit.

He previously co-founded the Compass Fellowship, a social enterprise training program in over 18 universities worldwide. He co-designed the program and coordinated relations with institutional stakeholders to expand it, securing more $500k of program investment. Prior to Compass, he launched Mission Three, a farmer’s market delivery service that won two international business awards and scaled to three college markets. Arthur previously consulted with Booz Allen Hamilton, leading an assessment and redesign of the company’s internal recruiting process.

Arthur studied Operations and information Management at Georgetown University and Project Management at Stanford University. His efforts have been featured in Fast Company, Huffington Post, Washington Post and ABC7’s Washington Business Tonight. He is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and sits on the Boards of the Sierra Institute, Georgetown Technology Alliance and Compass Partners.
