Today’s leaders juggle many responsibilities, make critical decisions, and must balance the needs of many people. When leaders are caught in the stress and complexity of competition and rapid change, the impulse is to move faster and work harder; but often, what’s needed is the ability to slow down, and think more deeply and broadly. One way to develop this capacity is through engaging in mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to what is happening in the moment, and the central practice of mindfulness is meditation. Practicing this on a regular basis helps to discipline your mind and develop concentration. This is a skill that any leader can cultivate.

In this webinar, Janice Levitt (EML’12) will show how mindfulness practice is helping many people to develop effective leadership skills, including clear thinking, skillful interaction, confidence, and a calm presence in the face of stress. You’ll also learn simple steps to begin a mindfulness practice.

Janice founded Savor Wellness after a 20 year career in international education. Serving as Executive Director of a rapidly growing study abroad organization and travelling around the world, she learned that managing stress in a fast-paced, challenging environment is a key to success. Cultivating a mindfulness meditation practice helped her to find balance and to develop strong leadership skills. Janice earned an Executive Masters in Leadership at Georgetown, writing her Masters paper on Cultivating Mindfulness for Effective Leadership. Janice offers transformational individual and group health coaching programs. She helps busy professionals around the country to find balance, reduce stress, double their energy, lose weight, and improve digestion through making gradual food and lifestyle changes.
