There are more than 5,000 full and part-time political appointments in the Obama-Biden administration, and 4,000 were made in the first two years of this administration. At the same time, more than 300,000 people have applied to work in the administration through WhiteHouse.gov. This webinar will cover the steps and strategies that will help you get your foot in the door and be competitive for appointment opportunities as they become available. Participants will learn how to best structure their resume, how to get their resume seen, best practices for networking to find out about job openings and how to marshal support for your candidacy.

Samir Luther is the Director of the Presidential Appointments Project at the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, the nation’s leading organization that identifies, trains and supports openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender public officials. He is responsible for expanding the number of openly LGBT people appointed to federal departments and administrative agencies as well as advisory boards and commissions. Samir is a first-generation Indian American from St. Louis, Missouri, and now lives in Washington, DC.
