Oh, the glamorous life abroad!  The pursuit of an international career often makes our eyes light up as we think about the possibilities of professional advancement, financial gains, cultural stimulation, and travel opportunities.

It is often said, however, that when you go abroad, the first stranger you meet is yourself.  The expatriate life is riddled with layers of complexity, and before embarking on the journey it is important to reflect on both the personal factors and the local dynamics that will impact the overall experience.

In this webinar presented by Jamie Gelbtuch (C'01), we will explore many of the intricacies involved in international careers. From current statistics about expatriate assignments, to key considerations, to characteristics of successful expats, we will provide greater context for understanding this process.  As a result, you will be able to better evaluate overseas assignment decisions as you navigate your own global career.

In her role as Principal Consultant for Cultural Mixology, Jamie designs, delivers, & facilitates cross-cultural & language training programs in academic, business, and expatriate environments, as well as consults on projects that present unique challenges touching on culture and language. She prepares clients to achieve success as they navigate cultural differences and the challenge of becoming fluent in a new language while providing research, support and hands-on project management.

Jamie has worked with clients from more than 50 companies, universities, has also lived abroad and traveled extensively throughout five continents. She has particular expertise working with Latin American cultures and French and Spanish speaking countries.
