For an entrepreneur, one of the most important yet least well-considered aspects of his or her business strategy may the “exit” strategy.  While it may seem unimportant to an entrepreneur who spends years growing and nurturing his or her business, developing an exit strategy is critical in that it ensures that the business owner will be able to successfully monetize her or her investment while protecting the long-term viability of the business.  Exit planning is essential not only for mature businesses, but also for start-ups, since early-stage investors don’t necessarily have an appetite for an indefinite investment time horizon or a potentially messy succession dispute.

In this webinar, Aziz El-Tahch (F’00) will introduce the audience to the pros and cons of various exit and business transition strategies available to entrepreneurs, including a sale to a financial buyer, sale to a strategic buyer, an internal transfer through a management buyout or sale to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), or an initial public offering.  The webinar will provide an overview of the steps a business owner can take to ensure he or she will achieve the highest value upon exit.

Aziz El-Tahch, CFA is a Managing Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group of Stout Risius Ross (SRR), a global financial advisory firm. He has experience in the valuation of securities, intangible assets, and business interests for numerous purposes. He has extensive experience in the valuation of business ownership interests in Employee Stock Ownership Plans and has performed analyses related to ESOP security formation and transactions, determination of transaction fairness and adequate consideration and annual employer security valuation updates.
Prior to joining SRR, Mr. El-Tahch was a Senior Investment Analyst at a New York-based alternative assets investment fund with approximately $500 million under management. He graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the School of Foreign Service with a concentration in Economics.
