So you have formed a new company, launched a new product or service offering, added a new feature to an existing offering, or maybe your company has been doing business and offering products and services for a while now … but you have not assessed the risks associated with using your trademarks or considered how best to protect them.  If so, it could prove to be a costly mistake down the road.

Join this webinar, led by Brendan Hughes (C'99), to learn what every entrepreneur should know about the basics of trademark law.  This includes the importance of trademark clearance, the steps involved in securing trademark registrations, and how best to protect your trademarks.

Brendan Hughes (C'99) is a senior associate in the Trademark, Copyright & Advertising practice group of Cooley LLP.  He specializes in counseling clients in a wide range of industries – including consumer-product companies, e-commerce businesses, social networking sites, search engines, and video game developers – regarding trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement matters for domestic and international trademark portfolios.  In addition, he has represented clients in federal court actions involving claims of trademark infringement and dilution, copyright infringement, trade dress infringement, false advertising, rights of publicity, and unfair competition, as well as in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board opposition and cancellation proceedings.  Hughes graduated from Georgetown University and is an avid Hoyas basketball fan.
