Organizations expect new recruits to negotiate – and they should, though many do not understand their options or how to get what they want without offending their employer. Though negotiating with a future employer can be stressful, using time-tested strategies candidates can safely navigate their way to improved outcomes—both for themselves and the organization. In this webinar, Professor Brooks Holtom will explore a variety of approaches that have been proven in real salary negotiations to deliver value on both sides of the table. Professor Holtom will explore a range of issues facing an employee, from understanding how to make informed trade-offs between cash compensation and intangible benefits (e.g., flexible hours, telecommuting) to maximizing the total package value.

Professor Brooks Holtom of the McDonough School of Business has been recognized by former students with Professor of the Year awards and by fellow academics with numerous Best Paper awards. He has more than 20 years of experience teaching negotiations and has worked with executives from a wide range of organizations including Bayer, Booz Allen Hamilton, Nordstrom, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank.
